mission and purpose

On Tuesdays We Wear Black coaches organizations and their people through the Grief & Bereavement process. We focus on collaborative services and offer the unique opportunity for curated support through an otherwise isolating experience.

Our purpose and our name comes from our founder, Kate Mollison and her personal experience as a widow. Her late husband, Craig was a huge fan of Broadway, one of his favorites being the musical adaptation of “Mean Girls”. He would often quote the famous line “On Wednesdays, we wear pink…”, even sporting a pink neck tie to work every Wednesday as a secret celebration for the story.

Craig unexpectedly passed away on a Tuesday in November of 2020. So although we wear pink on Wednesdays, on Tuesdays, we wear black.

The inception of this business came from the personal struggles our founder encountered on her own grief journey. The goal was to develop and share practical resources and education that were identified as absent while navigating the legal and financial hurdles of bereavement as well as learning to manage the complex emotions of grief.

Kate Mollison is a certified grief coach who uses a unique approach to promote awareness around the importance of grief & bereavement. Kate adds a personal touch to this sensitive topic, as she has an understanding of the nuanced experiences grief creates.

She is the founder and primary operator of On Tuesdays We Wear Black, working as a Grief & Bereavement Specialist where the focus is on helping others understand the connection between “grief” and “bereavement”. The primary objective is to provide information on the importance of organizing all the financial and legal components that happen after a death occurs so that grief can happen in the healthiest way possible.

Kate is a certified Grief Coach and has several years experience as a clinical case manager. She is also a certified “Playmaker” trauma specialist for children, which allowed her to create a modality that helps people unlock joy and find peace & meaning again after loss. By educating individuals and businesses on the importance of grief, she creates awareness to foster visibility and support. Her unique experiences and professional trainings means there is a cohesive understanding of both business metrics and profitability in relation to the importance of HR lens.

“There are many resources out there that support the emotional components of grieving, so when I began to search for help on topics beyond the emotion, I quickly became frustrated because everything was “support” and no actual guidance or help. I had tangible issues other than the emotional piece that I struggled to find solutions for. Its hard to comb through hours of internet searches with a limited supply of emotional bandwidth, so my goal was to streamline that search and make the education more accessible”. - Kate Mollison, Founder.
